MyShabbat is an exciting opportunity for college students and young professionals ages 18 – 33 years old to experience the beauty and warmth of a Shabbat dinner at the home of a welcoming family in Hollywood, FL.
MyShabbat will give you the opportunity to take a break from your studies and work life to feel and taste the spirituality and delicacies of the Shabbat table.
How does it work? Simple. All you have to do is fill out the form below. We will then contact you and give you the details of when and where to meet in Hollywood to hook you up with your host family.
I am not too familiar with the whole Shabbat thing – can I still go? Yes, in fact this is specifically geared for people who are not Shomer Shabbat and have little or no background in Judaism.
Is there anything I need to know beforehand? Yes, there are a couple requests like not using your cell phone at the Shabbat table – we will give you a short list of do’s and don’ts once when you sign up.
Does this cost anything? No
Umm, then why do people do this? Hach’nasat Orchim – “Opening our homes to others” is a fundamental principal of Judaism and was the hallmark of Abraham. We are carrying on that tradition.
