FAQs about Justifi and COVID-19

ARE LONG-HAUL INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS SAFE?

There are currently many studies on this question and the airline industry is rapidly evolving to ensure maximum passenger safety and comfort. Each airline has its own policies and protocols, but, in general, the standard usage of  aircraft HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters – similar to those used in hospitals – in conjunction with masks, make the onboard air very safe. TRAVEL WITH INTEGRITY

Justifi monitors advisories from the US State Department as well as from local authorities to ensure that we comply with all safety regulations and health restrictions. While we don’t anticipate this impacting our plans, we are prepared to be flexible and ask our travelers to do the same. Similarly, in the event that you experience any COVID-19 symptoms or receive a positive diagnosis during a trip, we’ll work together to help stop the spread and to be compliant with recommended medical best practices. Justifi can assist in arranging an appropriate quarantine, testing, and accessing medical treatment, as necessary. Medical bills and other expenses arising from COVID-related trip interruption are your responsibility, however your travel insurance may cover all or part of these costs.

WHICH COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS ARE MY RESPONSIBILITY?

Most destinations where Justifi travels mandate that you take a COVID-19 PCR test in order to enter the country. You will be required to provide a printed official copy of the test results to the airline prior to boarding your flight from the United States. In addition, most Justifi Trips will require official verification of COVID-19 vaccination or recovery.

Upon arrival in the destination country you may be subject to minimal health screening at the airport (e.g., having your temperature checked), but you will typically NOT be required to take an additional COVID test nor will you be required to quarantine.

During the course of the trip you may need to wear a mask (covering both your nose and mouth) in certain venues and we suggest using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. At the end of the trip, most countries and airlines require a negative pre-departure COVID PCR test. Justifi will make arrangements for this at a certified testing facility, as necessary, in time for your flight and you’ll need to pay the local lab for this test directly. In the event that you do not receive a negative test result you will likely be required to remain in the country and possibly isolate for a quarantine period. Justifi can assist in arranging an appropriate quarantine, testing, and accessing medical treatment, as necessary.

HOW WILL THE TRIPS CHANGE DUE TO COVID?

We’ve worked hard to enhance our trips in order to maximize the Justifi experience and minimize unnecessary risk to our travelers, staff, and local partners. We’ve made a few basic changes to some itineraries. For example, Justifi Trips will:

  • Have ready access to single-use masks and alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Spend more time outdoors than indoors
  • Make available guaranteed single-occupancy hotel rooms at a reduced fee (upon request
    where available)
  • Have limited interactions with local community members (including volunteering)

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY TRIP?

Justifi strongly advises the purchase of traveler insurance with a CFAR (“Cancel For Any Reason”) policy. This typically will cover most out of pocket expenses and help you get your money back even from the airlines and other ancillary purchases that you made for your trip (note that the group insurance policy that Justifi makes available during the registration process does not include a CFAR addendum).

WHAT IF JUSTIFI CANCELS MY TRIP?

It is quite rare for us to cancel a trip, however, it occasionally does happen for security, safety or other unexpected operational reasons beyond our control (e.g., a Corona-related destination closure). When we are forced to make a  change of this sort, the first thing to know is that Justifi will refund 100% of your payments to us. Alternatively, you can apply your existing payments to another Justifi Trip of your choosing.

Your other out-of-pocket expenses such as international airfare typically can also be cancelled without penalty, but you’ll need to confirm those details with your airline or travel agent directly. In addition, Justifi strongly recommends  purchasing a CFAR (“Cancel For Any Reason”) policy as part of your travel insurance in order to mitigate loss.
